The 1st International Conference on Intelligent Equipment and Robotics (ICIER 2020) was successfully held from November 13 to 15, 2020. Co-sponsored by China Association of Machinery Manufacturing Technology, Jiangsu Mechanical Engineering Society (JMES), Jiangsu Association of Artificial Intelligence, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), and organized by College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (CMEE), NUAA.

President of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), Academician Shan Zhongde served as Chairman of the conference. More than 200 experts and scholars have been invited to attend the conference, including 4 Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, over 10 Changjiang Scholars and 5 foreign experts (online), have made keynote reports at the Conference.

The conference was held at JSZS hotel on November 14, 2020, Fu Yucan, Dean of College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (CMEE), NUAA hosted the opening ceremony, he expressed warm welcome to all the attendees and announced that the ceremony officially begins. Tao Yong, Deputy Party Secretary of NUAA, Chi Yu, Deputy Director General of Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu, Zuo Jianmin from Jiangsu Mechanical Engineering Society (JMES) addressed welcome speeches to all the guests, respectively.

Chairman Shan Zhongde expressed thanks to attendees for their support to NUAA, he stressed that intelligent equipment has a bright prospect, and hope that scientific researchers jointly promote national science and technology development.

Academician Ding Han, Academician Zhao Chunsheng, Academician Tan Jianrong have make keynote reports: "Robot Technology in Intelligent Manufacturing" , "Development of Ultrasonic Motor and its Application in High-end Intelligent equipment" , "From Robot to Intelligent Robot: Key Technology and Development Trend" respectively.  

Prof. Liu Xinjun from Tsinghua University, Prof. Li Jianmin from Tianjin University, Prof. Ding Xilun from Beihang University, Liao Wenhe from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, etc. over 10 experts delivered keynote reports. Many foreign experts from UK, Japan online shared new technology in the field of robotics abroad.

On November 15, experts and scholars have discussed around three topics: intelligent manufacturing systems and equipment, intelligent robotics, intelligent detection.

The conference provided a good communication platform for deepening the research on the core technologies in the field of intelligent equipment in China, clarifying the main development direction of artificial intelligence & robotics technology during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, as well as promoting the transformation & application of the new technology of advanced intelligent manufacturing system represented by robotics technology could better serve the transformation and upgrading of China's equipment manufacturing industry and the development of strategic emerging industries. It is of great significance to promote the construction of manufacturing power.
